A dear friend of mine with a very similar attitude mentioned to me the other day that he wasn't afraid to die young if he had thoroughly enjoyed his limited years on this earth doing everything that made him happy. Although M.I.A and Drake already have songs encouraging people to live fast, die young and live by the YOLO (you only live once) motto, meeting someone who has endless stories and experiences to share from travelling all over the world and following his heart, truly helps you process the idea of dying young and I really do agree with him. I would much rather have lived a very happy and fulfilled 40 years of life than a regretful and unhappy 80 years. With all the hate and greed in our world, it is so important to do the things that make you happy.
I've been asked a lot lately how I've afforded to do so much travelling and volunteering at such a young age and the truth is, I haven't. Luckily I am financially okay at the moment and happy with what I have but for a while I was eating Kraft Dinner and charging everything to my credit card so I could escape for weeks at a time. I don't encourage this behaviour at all, as debt is the WORST feeling, but if I saved for everything I wanted to do in this life, I'd be saving my money forever and not enjoying anything! You can't dwell on certain purchases and experiences thinking about all the money you spent. If you truly enjoyed whatever you spent it on, it was worth it. Happiness isn't always easy to come by and when you find it, no matter what you find it in, it's priceless. I'm very content with taking a chance with the few dollars I have and seeing where it leads me. You never know what the future holds and I want to enjoy each and every moment I'm alive.
Okay, okay, enough of the 'wise' Jazzmine chit-chat. All I can leave you with is my good vibes and the hope that you will all take a chance on finding love and happiness this upcoming year, and if you've found it, take the time to appreciate it. We've already lived through too apocalyptic years (ahem, 2000 AND 2012)...enjoy life before it's too late.
Have a happy and safe 2015 everyone! Next post will be in the new year and coming to you via Germany!
